This stone is the first of many highly detailed drawings that I will be doing from things I have collected over the years.

David Hockney RA: A Bigger Picture
Nature in regards to Art isn’t getting boring or tired as some people believe, it is the way in which we look at nature that has. So we as artists seek to change our view of nature in the hope that people viewing are work will look a bit closer. I don’t normally like to compare myself to the great minds like Hockney. However, I can safely say that this is something the great man and I have in common as far as how are work looks at the world.

“I don’t mind boring others but I’m not going to bore myself”

I was very pleased that I managed to to get tickets to David Hockney's recent exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts, I’m happy to say it lived up to my expectations (which were high). Though incredibly busy I had as much time as I wanted to have a good look at the rather large amount of work both large and small, which took about 2 hours.
Not my own photo
One thing that really stuck with me was his huge painting of the grand canyon, his use of bright vibrant colour really sticks in you mind. I think scale is very much the point of this work, it leaves a very strong impression with the viewer just as i’m sure the real thing left one with Hockney.

The suns come out, time to explore the garden. These photos are the result.

Wouldn’t say I was the blogging type and it’s not something I can say iv ever wanted to do. But i’m going to try and get into it. So this is going to be my Uni blog where I post and talk about my work or any major ideas I have as I work through the 3 years and after depending on how this works out. Also any gallery visits that really stand out I’ll do a little review.
